Leading strategies for cardiometabolic product development Dr. Ravi Kumar is a seasoned biopharmaceutical executive, translational medicine leader, and entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience advancing innovative therapies across cardiometabolic, immune and inflammatory diseases. His career spans leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, Pfizer, Pharmacia, Purdue Pharma, The Cleveland Clinic, and ARKAY Therapeutics, where he founded and led the development of first-in-class therapeutic programs.
Dr. Kumar has extensive expertise in precision medicine, translational research, biomarker strategy, clinical development, regulatory planning, and portfolio leadership, with a proven track record of advancing programs from target identification through Phase 3 clinical development. He has successfully led multidisciplinary teams, global clinical programs, regulatory interactions, and strategic partnerships across biotechnology and pharmaceutical organizations.
As Founder and CEO of ARKAY Therapeutics, Dr. Kumar developed TriGlytza™, a first-in-class beta cell-centric therapeutic approach for Type 2 diabetes that was recognized as an American Diabetes Association (ADA) Thought Leader innovation in 2024 and successfully out-licensed for further development and commercialization.
His scientific contributions include the cloning and characterization of two previously uncloned genes, including Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE) at The Cleveland Clinic and Gs-alpha at New York University, reflecting a career-long commitment to translating breakthrough science into transformative medicines for patients.
Dr. Kumar obtained M.S. and Ph.D. from New York University in Molecular Cell Biology and mMBA in BioPharma Innovation from Rutgers University School Business.
